What are the most important tasks I need to do to set up my MusicTeacherNotes teacher account?
When you first join MusicTeacherNotes, there are things you'll want to do to properly set up you MusicTeacherNotes account. Below are the tasks we ranked as most important. We'll assume you've already verified your email address and checked to make sure your account information was entered correctly.
TASK 1: CREATE YOUR DIRECTORY LISTING
Key Points
Every music teacher who joins MusicTeacherNotes gets a free Directory Listing.
Your Directory Listing is a public web page that shows in Google or other search engines to help you get students.
Your Directory Listing is optimized for search engines so it can show up in search results when potential students search for relevant lessons you offer.
TASK 2: SET YOUR AVAILABILITY
Key Points
Your Availability Calendar is a public calendar that shows when you are available to teach.
If you work for multiple studios, you set your availability for each studio, as each studio has its own Availability Calendar.
When you schedule lessons, times you'd normally be available become unavailable because a student took that lesson slot.
Students can request lessons from you via the Availability Calendar, which helps you capture leads and get more students.
TASK 3: ADD YOUR STUDENTS
Key Points
Adding your students is a necessary step for music teachers to use MusicTeacherNotes.
It is the first of three steps that comprise of the onboarding students process. After you add students, you can schedule them and connect them.
We will explain the scheduling and connecting steps in other videos, but for now just add all of the students you currently teach. It should only take a few minutes.
TASK 4: SCHEDULE YOUR STUDENTS
Key Points
Scheduling students adds their lessons on your lesson calendar.
Your students will also see the lesson schedule when they register and connect with your studio code.
When you schedule a student, you can choose between weekly (recurring) or one-time (as-you-go) lessons.
Lesson schedules are easy to edit and delete.
Only teachers can manage the lesson schedule. Students can request lessons, but they cannot change the lesson schedule.
TASK 5: CONNECT YOUR STUDENTS
Key Points
MusicTeacherNotes needs teachers and students to "connect" accounts to work as intended.
If you are a Premium member, your connected students will automatically get a free Gold Account, which means they do not have to pay for MusicTeacherNotes at all. It's completely free for them.
Once a student connects to a teacher account, the music teacher can:
Share videos and learning documents via the Library
Interact with a student's lesson journal
Send messages and reminders
Add assignments
Manage billing
See lesson journals
A student connects to a teacher's account by:
Registering for a MusicTeacherNotes family account
Selecting family members who take music lessons
Entering the studio code for their music teacher
We created easy ways to guide your students to connect.
