Aubrey Lane Smith, soprano, comes from Springfield, Missouri. She has a Bachelor of Music Education - Vocal Emphasis from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri (2016). She completed a teaching assistantship in Choral Conducting with Dr. R. Paul Crabb at the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) in 2019 and is continuing her graduate degree in Vocal Performance. She studies voice with professional operatic soprano, Jennifer Forni. She most recently performed the role of Sandra Bloom in Springfield Contemporary Theatre's production of Big Fish and the role of Mrs. Potts in Springfield Little Theatre's production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. In 2023, Aubrey covered the role of Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni at Ozarks Lyric Opera. She sang the role of Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen at the Vocal Academy of Opera (VAO) Young Artist Program in Bodrum, Turkey as well as Countess Almaviva in the MU Show-Me Opera production of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. She has also performed the role of Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, been soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem, and performed the title role in Handel's opera, Alcina. She was selected as a featured soloist in the Emerging Artist Competition at MU in the spring of 2022 and placed 1st and 2nd at both local and regional NATS competitions in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2018. Aubrey received vocal scholarships at both Missouri State University and Drury University for her undergraduate education. In addition to her performance experience, Aubrey has taught private voice since 2010 in Springfield, Missouri and Columbia, Missouri. She specializes in classical, musical theater, jazz, gospel, and pop vocals. While at MU, she had a studio of 10 to 15 singers while also being a full-time student and teaching classes in Voice and Music History at MU and Ozarks Technical Community College both online and in person. Aubrey returned to Springfield in the summer of 2022 and has grown her private voice studio to 25 students in that time. Aubrey has worked with students of all ages ranging from 8 years old to 70 years old. She has experience working with adolescent changing voices and damaged voices. She is comfortable working with students in need of vocal rehab and has a proficient knowledge of vocal pedagogy. Aubrey is thrilled to continue her teaching journey at the Judith Enyeart Reynolds School of the Performing Arts in conjunction with the the Springfield Little Theatre Education Department in Springfield, Missouri.
